The IFLA Management & Marketing (M&M) pre-conference at Athens was the first-ever meeting in Greece (celebrating its 5000th bithday and IFLA its 75th--)
There were over 200 participants-August 19-21, with around 20 presesentations on service strategies for libraries. Particpants enjoyed a trip to the Greek National Library, Parthenon, and a lovely rooftop dinner at the Titiani Hotel.
The Management and Marketing Section of IFLA has taken marketing to over 45 countries with their work including preconferences, satellite meetings and publications of the papers presented. The IFLA marketing award is also the work of the section, and the application is translated into 7 IFLA languages--and in its 8th year--over 45 countries have shared in learning marketing principles through the award and application.
Angels Massisimo, Chair of the M&M section and Members Antonia Arahova and Christie Koontz co-chaired the pre-conference.
